It has been a while I know. Remember on my flipping blog where I was bragging how to find the perfect contractor? Well, turns out our contractor took the money and ran. Did other bad stuff that I will not mention and left us high and dry.

Now we are picking up the pieces and trying to salvage the flip. What a damn muffin lurker he is! I have been pissed off, scared depressed damn angry… but it is time to take this bull by the balls… (It may be horns… but balls seems more painful), and squeeze!

So I took a look at my sites and SEO, and I was worried where I would be now that the latest google update removed some of my backlinks and I had dropped a few places.

To my surprise, I rank stronger, and would you believe it? I beat Trulia and realtor.

But my mini links are gone ghaaadamnit.

Well, I see lots of my competitors dropped a lot so I am sure they did the grey hat and blackhat SEO, SERVES YOU RIGHT you bastards!! I have not touched or monitored my site for a month now. Have a ton of leads I have not even had time to take seriously.

Signed a few contracts,…let’s see where all this will lead me. Today after a month am I feeling a bit hopeful this flip will go back to good standing. More details when and if I feel better. Been really down due to all this shit!

As for ranking. Any of you noticed your links gone? Oddly enough, my PA increased for my homepage, but ALL other city pages have completely dropped to 0 PA.

They still rank.. which I guess is what counts… but still odd that all my links dropped to 0 for my city pages while the backlinks to those pages were from my own site. Maybe google is settling? I doubt it.

But for once I ask you to participate. Tell me what you have experienced on your end? Is your site doomed? Untouched? Stronger?

Thanks! It has been really rough trying to keep the spirits up, but I have no choice…

Man that is terrible about the contractor!

My laptop is in the shop but when I get it back I will check my links to see if there were any changes. I don’t believe I had any spammy ones so hopefully I wasn’t affected too much. My rankings have somewhat static.

MSOOTKAUG! I just finished reading BOTH your blogs start to finish, holy crap what an inspiration and motivation you are! I hate to hear that you guys have hit a snag, especially so close (or it seems like it) to completion…I can’t believe the marvelous Mr.Dave skipped out, he seemed like such a keeper! I know something will work out for you though…please don’t give up! If it’s any help at all, know that this little buttmuffin is totally rooting for you 😀

Things are not all bad. We just learned that the house we are flipping now has a market value of about 300K (before we were hoping for 230K). So if I manage to finish this crap project, there will be big money involved in the end!!

Wow, what a bummer! It’s pretty hard to imagine how these people think it’s no big deal to bite the hand that feeds them. I live in a smaller metro area with a decent size investment community so chances are pretty good they’d be run outta town if they did this here enough times with investors at least. But I’d focus on the positive – that $70K jump in market values. That’s amazing! Keep up the good work. Also, if you could do it differently, how would you do it next time? Pay him a little bit at a time (if that’s not what you did this time). Was he licensed, bonded, and insured? Did he provide any references? Thanks.

Thanks. I would have done a better job checking references. I would have done a better job checking if he had any liens against properties and also do a better job searching for any negative reviews.
He provided references, but of course that is bullshit. He is not going to provide negative references. Also the market didn’t really jump 70K up. It was just difficult to comp and when our agent got a better idea of how the house was being redone she could do a better comp.
